SNEAK PREVIEW : ALICIA ON TONIGHT WITH JONATHAN ROSS
Saturday, January 23rd, 2010ALICIA PERFORMS DURING HOPE FOR HAITI NOW
Saturday, January 23rd, 2010Alicia Keys was the first act to perform at Friday night’s (January 22) “Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief” telethon. Keys, who sat and played at the piano, gave a somber but stirring performance of her song “Prelude to a Kiss,” from her 2007 LP As I Am. A montage of Haitian people played as Keys performed. “Sometimes I feel so heavyhearted,” Keys sang with emotion. “But I can’t explain, ’cause I’m so guarded/ But that’s a lonely road to travel/ And a heavy load to bear.”
Footage of a Haitian baby crying added depth to the poignant performance. “Can you send an angel?” she sang, as if she were pleading to heaven on the chorus. Keys is just one of a multitude of entertainers contributing to the telethon. Jay-Z, U2, Rihanna, Wyclef Jean and Bruce Springsteen will also perform, while celebs such as Tobey Maguire and Tyrese Gibson are answering phones for donations. George Clooney and Leonardo DiCaprio told stories of some of the horrific moments in the wake of last week’s earthquake.

MISS KEYS TO PLAY ISCHGL
Thursday, January 14th, 2010Alicia Keys is to perform Ischgl’s famous season closing concert at the resort’s open air mountain top arena. The US star – whose album The Elements of Freedom is riding high in the UK charts – will perform at Idalp at 2,300m on Saturday 1 May on the penultimate day of the 09-10 ski season. The lunchtime concert is expected to attract a crowd of 20,000 skiers and boarders and wrap up the resort’s five month-long season, which was launched at the end of November by fellow American Katy Perry, who chose Ischgl as the location to introduce her parents to boyfriend Russell Brand – and it is now reported that the couple became engaged at New Year.
Alicia and Katy join a glittering list of stars to have performed at Ischgl’s Top of The Mountain concerts, which have launched and closed every winter since the 94-95 season, with recent acts including Elton John, Kylie Minogue, Lionel Richie, Rihanna, Leona Lewis, Gabriella Cilmi and The Pussycat Dolls. Grammy award winning singer-songwriter-pianist Alicia has had chart successes with hits such as Doesn’t Mean Anything, No One and If I Ain’t Got You. The concert stage is constructed in a natural bowl at the top of the Fimba and Silvretta gondola lifts with the stunning backdrop of the Silvretta mountains. Entrance is by valid lift ticket. An adult day pass for 1 May is Euro 75 and a three day pass covering the final weekend is Euro 108.
