Alicia Keys has been able to endure longevity, not only because she produces superb music, but also because she has been able to stare clear of drama in this “crazy business” of entertainment. Understanding that many other artists fall to the devils of the business, Keys recently voiced her admiration for talents younger than her, especially superstar Rihanna.
“It’s such a tricky, crazy business, and when people are a little bit younger than me, I’m always hoping that their soul is good because it can be such a soulless space…,” Keys told UK’s ES Magazine. “I’m proud of Rihanna. Because it’s not easy to stand up in this crazy world and make it and keep going and try new things. And find your way through it.”
Keys also spoke about her relationship with Michelle Obama insisting, “I very much connect with Michelle and we’ve done different things together that have given us so much to talk about – she’s really interested in girls and empowerment too.”

Alicia Keys took to the stage at London’s O2 Arena on Thursday (May 30) for the first of her two night stint as part of her Set The World On Fire world tour and MTV News UK were lucky enough to witness the voice from New York in action. After a rather energetic set from Miguel – which felt some what wasted on the more mature crowd – the audience sat eagerly anticipating Keys’ entrance. The atmosphere was subdued, yet you could feel the excitement bubbling over as the arena fell into complete darkness, as images of the Brooklyn Bridge were projected onto a stage curtain.
Keys’ silhouette then emerged from behind the veil, causing an eruption from the once laid-back crowd. Teasing her fans with the first bars of Empire State Of Mind, she was dressed in a sheer, sequinned blue top which was slashed to the waist exposing her cleavage. Alicia completed her look with a black trilby-style hat and skin-tight black trousers. She remained in this ensemble throughout the gig, losing her headgear at one point. The set was simple. Just Keys, a variety of different pianos and the occasional video, which was flashed on the screen behind her. While the stage layout was minimalistic, it was also an effective way to showcase Alicia’s stunning vocals. (READ MORE HERE) Watch Alicia perform No One HERE.
